Do you have vines climbing up your wall or a dead cactus in the corner? Some people have a green thumb and others do not. No matter the experience level, this houseplant care guide benefits anyone who has an interest in indoor gardening. The mobile and desktop experiences provide resources and care instructions for plant owners of any experience level within an accessible and approachable user interface.

Goals and Objectives

To create an accessible mobile and desktop application that provides a comprehensive houseplant care guide to plant owners of all experience levels.

Research

In order to understand the needs and wants of the audience for this project, I spoke to multiple individuals who all had different levels of experience caring for houseplants. With that information, I created case studies that informed the content of the app. It was also essential to perform user testing with a variety of people to ensure that the application was accessible, intuitive and user friendly.

Audience

Houseplant lovers of all levels of knowledge and experience.

What I learned

The research process gave me a lot of valuable experience performing interviews and then synthesizing that information into an application that appeals to a large audience. During the design phase, I learned that user testing and iteration is key to making an accessible, user-friendly app.
